The Last Post!
  1. Rita had three children for Nesta after marrying. A daughter Cedella, and two sons Ziggy and Steve.
  2. Nesta was gradually making a name for himself throughout the Caribbean as a songwriter and performer.
  3. It was only after he had signed with Chris Blackwell and Island Records that he became an international star.
  4. They were shot together in the assassination attempt of 1976.
  5. The stresses of pursuing his music career weighed down his marriage and took time away from his family.
  6. That same year Robbie and Rohan who were sons of Nesta were born in Jamaica. This made Rita furious. Consequently when Nesta was sick with Brain cancer in Germany she was not at his side but promoting her new album.
  7. Nesta died leaving one widow, seven baby mothers and eleven children.
  • Cindy Breakspeare - Damian
  • Janet in Jamaica - Rohan
  • Janet in England - Karen
  • Pat - Robbie, Anita, Kimani
  • Lucy in England - Julian
  • Yvette - Makada
  • Rita - Cedella, Ziggy, Steve

Why was she still having children if one of her sons Nesta is already a grown man?

Why did Rita take so long to tell Nesta that Stephanie wasn't his daughter?

What possessed Rita not to be at his death bed?

How did he get away with sleeping with so many women?

"Nevertheless, a truer, more loving heart then Diane's Nesta never knew while he walked this earth. She was present at his deathbed." - Denouement

Despite everything Nesta was wealthy and famous but did not reach his full potential until after his death.

Marley Booker, mother

  1. Nesta really started playing and singing as a teenager. Almost every night he would play or go to a friends house and play.
  2. His mother however had more practical plans for him. She wanted him to become a welder.
  3. But one day Nesta came home with silver in his eye from his apprentice welding training, which consequently ended his career.
  4. Not too long after a man named Derek Morgan spoke to Nesta's mother and convinced her that he has a chance and was very talented.
  5. When Robert Nesta Marley came to the United States he officially changed his name to Bob Marley.
  6. As Nesta worked as a janitor at the DuPont Hotel he continued to write songs.
  7. After a short time, Nesta grew tired of America and moved back to Jamaica the one place he belonged.

Why were Rastas feared in those days?

Did practicing Rasta affect Nesta's life significantly?

Who was Rita? Was she his baby-mama?

"Dangerous? How bacon dangerous? 'It come from de swine where Jesus cast de devil." - Irony

"Stones for my pillow and the sky is my roof." - Metaphor

My Son, Nesta

  1. For a very long time things between them went smoothly. The wedding went without a fuss and the very next month she missed her period discovering that she was pregnant with Bob.
  2. Bob's real name was Nesta Robert Marley.
  3. In order to receive a better education she sent Bob to a boarding school in Kingston.
  4. Months, years even passed without a word from Bob which worried his mother. Therefore she went to look for him, only to find out he was not in school but living with random people.
  5. Captain Marley died not too long after that and she was left a widow and Nesta was left fatherless with a birthright of two pennies.
  6. Nesta was never a cry-cry child, he was always brave and stubborn.
  7. One of his closest playmates, Bunny Livingston, would later become Bunny Wailer of Bob Marley and the Wailers.
  8. She then moved to Kingston to work and live with her brother, leaving Bob behind.

Why did he only come to see her twice during her pregnancy?

Was he already with another woman?

Why did Captain Marley want to send Nesta away so badly?

"Puppa, renowned through the district as a bush doctor and herbalist, had saved my first-born, Nesta Robert Marley, the only child I would ever bear for Captain." - Irony/Foreshadowing

I think that Captain Marley died because of all the wrong he was doing.

My Son, Bob
  1. They owned one of the only Delco generators in the district which allowed them to listen to a sermon in Kingston or music from Cuba.
  2. She (Bob's mother) attended the Stepney school where she got beaten over every little thing, which caused her to transfer.
  3. Captain Marley was the first man she had ever been with.
  4. She had slept over his house without permission and got a good beating when she got home the next morning.
  5. She began to spend so much time at him house that her father said that she belonged to Captain Marley at the young age of sixteen.
  6. Although only sixteen, she was now the woman of Captain Norval St Clair Marley.

Was she going to die?

How good were the doctors in their town?

Wait! Whose mother died? Bob's or Bob's mothers mother?

"Inside the room, my mother was complaining that her head hurt and that she felt sick, as if someone had 'marked a ten-cross over her forehead', which is a magical cross that can draw evil." - Simile

I agree with her when she says that because schools are less strict students seem less likely to learn because they are not disciplined and do not care.

My Son, Marley
  • Bob Marley had cancer in his big toe.
  • His mother refers to him as Nesta. Nesta means messenger.
  • She is known as Mother Booker.
  • Born 1926 in the mountainous bosom of Jamaica, in the district of Nine Miles, the parish of St Ann.
  • Bob was the sixth of nine children for his mother.
  • His fathers given name was Omeriah but the majority of people called him Custos, which was a term of respect for Jamaicans. Some people even called him Mass Amy which was short for Master Omeriah and other called him Ma Name.
  • His father had at least a dozen more women in the district which meant Bob had about twenty or thirty siblings!
  • Custos was a strict, godly, kindly man of medium build and dark complexion.

Why was it okay for his father to have so many women?

Did Bob personally know all his possible siblings?

What if he accidentally went on a date with one of them without knowing the truth? Would it matter?

How did Bob's mother feel about his father having multiple women?

"The nights are misty cool, the days are warm, and afternoon rains so plentiful that everywhere you look the slopes and hills are covered with thick, green woodlands." - Setting

I'm guessing that Bob's father is like the "king" leader of his community because he is allowed certain privileges.

  • Why don't they just tell each other the truth?

  • Did Robbie die?

  • Why didn't Briony stop the wedding?

As Briony grew up she figured out that what she did to Robbie and Cecilia was unfair so she dedicated the rest of her life to make it right, imagining each soldier that entered the hospital was Robbie. She simply wanted forgiveness, something Cecilia would never give her.
